Richmond County Astronomy Club Notes from February 11, 2025

Attendance was low due to a steady rain  

What do we do at Astronomy Club meetings?  Talk about astronomy!  Richmond County Astronomy Club meeting was tonight. 

Using the Richmond Community College Celestron 8 We talked about how altazimuth mounted telescope work,  mythology and the stars and how today determined distances.  Members also showed recent images taken.  Future telescope outings at dark sky locations were discussed. Carl showed how a slide ruler works.  

March 11 meeting topic why lunar eclipses happen. We have a total lunar eclipse in March 13 14 astronomy club open to children with responsible adults. No public events are planned but members are encouraged to observe it on their own to do the 2:00 AM totality time  For the exact date and time of the eclipse for your area see Time and Date website
