Impromptu Outreach Event Jupiter and Moon Conjunction

  • Date: 2/15/2024
  • Location First Assembly Rockingham, NC

This event was planned on the same day it happened after the forecast looked unfavorable for the upcoming Friday night first quarter moon scheduled event. Skies were clear and we had positioned the telescope on the moon. Did have a minor technical issue I need to align the finder scope before my next outing. We had two visitors at the start John from Rockingham his first time and Mary from one of our earlier attendees. Ceecee? and her grandson? Came by for a look. Also had Dave and Jerry come by I always get excited when I hear the voices of amazement in people’s voices when they look through the telescope.

Mary had her binoculars out and showed a few visitors Hyades, Pleiades , and M42.

We may have saw part of a satellite launched earlier in the evening.

My goal is to have an event in the country away from the city lights. Stay tuned.
