Richmond County Astronomy Club Meeting #2

The second meeting of the Richmond County Astronomy Club took place on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 on the main campus of the Richmond Community College, in Hamlet, North Carolina.  Lee Building Classroom 6. Three people were in attendance.   We discussed options for future meetings and it was decided the next meeting will be Tuesday February 11,  2025 at 6 PM.
The topic of the meeting was how moon light affects what we see on the moon as well as how the light results what we achieve in astrophotography. We also discussed the difference between refractors and reflecting telescopes and what advice we should give to people that ask   We decided it would be up to the individual purchasing the telescope with the assistance of having experience of the club members to show available telescopes of the members. Carl set up his telescope in the courtyard and showed members how he sets it up and even allowed members to control the telescope with their own smartphones . Images of the Horsehead nebula , M42 was taken
