NC K-6947 #15 Sandhills State Game Land. Nice afternoon to activate the park.I realize I am very lucky to have 3 “ home” parks in my county to activate. 3 CW and 61 phone contacts. I was at yet another section of the parks 65,135 acres. I talked to one of the rangers the other day about camping and he said only during hunting season and only if I had a hunting license. I asked if I could set up my radio after dark he said I could do anything I wanted to but not camp. I casually asked him what he actually did for the park and he said he is a biologist and his current project was counting wood peckers. So I encourage all those parents with kids to encourage them to go after a occupation they would enjoy. I thought that was very interesting. Thanks to the hunters and p2p. De n4mqu

Well things didn’t go exactly as planned for me this morning. I had planned to activate NC K-3866 Selma Cornelison Ward State Nature Preserve. I couldn’t find it. I plugged the coordinates in and drove there but it was a country road with no sign or nothing. So plan B I headed to K-2746 Morrow Mountain State Park That woke me up as far as depending on the internet I learned my lesson. Luckily I had the park numbers on google earth and could look up my park number. I was able to work KC3CAS in K-4239 and K-1345 on 40 and 20. That was fun. Thanks for all the hunters and p2p. I started with Today I used the MFJ Short HF Mobile Ham-tenna but since the signal reports weren’t good I switched to my MFJ-1984HP, ENDFED 1/2 Wave 40-10M. I may have rushed myself to set up and the result wasn’t great signals but I did activate the park. Be sure to keep yourself hydrated and bring a lunch. De n4mqu.

Second highest QSO Total 107

NC K-8010. Mckinney Lake State Fish Hatchery. I had my second highest solo QSO total. Great day for being by the lake I went to a different area of the park. I tried 10 and 12 but no QSO

40, 20, 17 and 15 successful contacts 37 contacts from my kilo award for the park.  On the hunting side I finally got Arizona missing WY, HI, and AK

 Met a new friend with a new radio X-6100 here is the recording I made of our QSO. Another friend is encouraging me to get one. He insist that he didn’t put anyone up to contacting me but I was impressed with W4BUS Judd’s impression of his new radio.
